Your privacy

What we know about you

Short version: your email, what you told us during setup, and what you listen to. Nothing is sold, and nothing is public.

Who holds your information

Thank You, Sir., operated by its creator as an individual is responsible for the information described here. A postal address for legal or data-protection correspondence is available on request by email. Questions or requests go to support@thankyousir.app.

What we collect

  • Your account: email address and a securely hashed password, or the email your Google account gives us if you sign in that way. We never see your Google password.
  • What you told us during setup: your first name, what you said you're carrying, and the time of day you want to listen. This exists only to make the app speak to you properly.
  • Listening activity: which sessions you open, roughly how far you got, and your night streak — so playback resumes and the home screen stays relevant.
  • Membership status: whether you're active, which plan, and renewal dates. Card details go straight to Stripe; we only ever see the last four digits and the card brand.
  • Basic technical data: device type, browser, and error logs, used to keep audio working and to fix crashes.
  • Product analytics: anonymous-by-default event data about which screens you visit and where you drop off, through a privacy-focused analytics provider, so we can see where the app confuses people.
  • Your age confirmation: the fact that you confirmed you are 18 or older, and when. We keep this as proof that the confirmation was made; we never ask for your date of birth or an ID document.

We do not record anything through your microphone, and we don't ask for contacts, photos, or location.

Why we're allowed to use it

To give you the membership you signed up for (that's the contract between us), to meet legal and tax obligations, and — where we rely on your consent, such as optional emails — because you agreed and can withdraw at any time.

Who else sees it

Only the services needed to run this, and only the minimum each one needs:

  • Our hosting, database, and authentication provider, which stores your account and listening history.
  • Stripe, which processes payments and holds your billing details.
  • Our email provider, which delivers confirmations, receipts, and billing notices.
  • A product-analytics provider, which receives usage events without your name or listening history.

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not run ad-tracking pixels. If we're ever legally compelled to hand something over, we'll tell you unless we're forbidden from doing so.

What stays private from other members

Everything. There are no public profiles, no follower lists, and no way for another member to see your name, your email, what you listen to, or that you're a member at all.

How long we keep it

Your account data lives as long as your account does. Delete your account and we remove your profile, setup answers, saved sessions, and listening history. Payment and tax records are kept as long as the law requires, usually seven years, and cannot be deleted on request.

Your choices

  • Get a copy of what we hold, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support. We answer within 30 days.
  • Delete your account and its data from the You tab, which takes effect immediately and cancels any active membership. If you can't get into your account, email support and we'll do it within 30 days.
  • Cancel your membership yourself at any time, from the same place.
  • Unsubscribe from any non-essential email using the link at the bottom of it. Receipts and billing notices keep coming while you're a paying member, because they're part of the service.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to certain processing or to complain to your data-protection authority. Email us first — we'd rather fix it.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, audio files sit in private storage behind short-lived links, and database rules restrict every row to the account that owns it. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects you, we'll tell you.

Cookies and local storage

We store what's needed to keep you signed in and to remember your setup answers and place in a session on your device. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, we'll email active members and update the date above. The terms of membership cover billing and access.
